Holga shoots EIR Color Infrared Film

As some of you may already know, in addition to my addiction to Holga Photography, I am also a devote of all things Infrared or IR. I have posted some B&W IR Film images here on the Holga Buzz in the past. Recently, I got the opportunity to shoot some quickly disappearing EIR Color IR Film. The full story of that adventure is detailed on:

The IR Buzz Technical Article

If you are interested in trying out this rapidly disappearing film format, you will find contact information and availability in the IR Buzz technical article. Here are the results of the first and only roll I have shot to date. One of the highlights of the shoot was my meet-up with Jules Alexander who owns and hosts the best IR Forum on the entire whacky-wide-web! It's all in the posting over there on the IR Buzz. I have 2 more EIR rolls which I am hoarding for the "right time and place" to expose, so stay tuned for a few more Color EIR Holga Images here in the future.

According to Stanley Marsh III, the owner of the Cadillac Ranch, there are 10 cars, "headed West, into the future". And they are oriented facing West.

Infrared Film Images

I shot a roll of Infrared Film with the Holga to get some experience with IR and film.
Unfortunately the day turned overcast, so the contrasts are somewhat subdued.
I used a Hoya R72 IR Pass Filter, and exposed for approximately 1 second. The results were a bit under exposed, and I think that 2 seconds might have been better for this light.
I developed the negatives in Kodak D-76, exactly as normal B&W film, and scanned them with my Epson 4490 flatbed scanner.
I also took reference images with my Sony 717 in Nightshot, using the Hoya R72 and an ND 8 filters.
Photoshop editing was approximately the same for the film images and the 717 images. I purposely did not edit any of them as much as I normally would for IR because I want to show the images in their original state.

Original BBQ in Dallas, TX.

Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse BBQ - The briskette is the best in the world!

Sonny's is a very small place, so get your order placed and step out of the way!

Holga built in flash. Captures the counter staff and satisfied customers.

That sign in the window says "Closed - Out of Food". Fortunately they had not run out yet and the sign had not been turned around in the window.
